The leading cause of pain and disability in America is osteoarthritis. In America, the topmost cause of pain and disability is osteoarthritis. One in every two seniors will have arthritis in their knees. Surgery is advised mostly for patients whose osteoarthritis is unresponsive to other forms of treatment methods. But, If the root cause of osteoarthritis is managed, many hip replacement surgeries are avoidable, according to Dr. Pack.

Arthritis, sports performance and preventive medicine are the area of expertise of Dr. Louis G. Pack. He performs his clinical obligation at the Medical College of Georgia in Greensboro. He has served Olympic gold medal aspiring athletes and patients experiencing pain caused by arthritis.Dr. Pack sees to it that his patients get the medical attention they needed and that they will have guaranteed results. Patients will not meet gate keepers and experience delayed visits when visiting his clinic.Like most patients, time is also valuable to Dr. Pack.

He had an Olympic silver and gold medalist in 2004, and also gave assistance to the UGA Golf Team. As uncanny as this may sound, it can be done because he uses the very same principles in both cases.

He recently published his first book entitled The Arthritis Revolution which is based on over 40 years of clinical experience in treating thousands of patients with arthritis and five years of research. The belief that age and weight caused osteoarthritis was dispelled by his book. Researchers from the Mayo Clinic and the Journal of the American Medical Association supported the arguments shown in Dr. Pack’s book.

Dr. Pack argued that if age is the primary cause of osteoarthritis, why do many people have just one knee or hip involved. Additionally, some 90-year-olds also do not develop arthritis while some other far younger people have severe arthritis. This logic is true of weight as well. Weight is not carried by a single knee or hip and people with above normal weight do not necessarily develop arthritis. There must be factors other than age and weight that triggered osteoarthritis.

He pointed out that the root cause of osteoarthritis is abnormal alignment. His book further stated that until abnormal alignment is accepted, prevention of the disease is not likely to happen. Severe cases of osteoarthritis of the hip are treated with surgery, more likely a hip replacement. The procedure has gained negative feedbacks from patients after they have experienced device-related complications. An ASR hip replacement recall was ordered by DePuy Orthopedics in response to the health concerns thrown at their ASR hip system.

DePuy Recall

DePuy’s ASR XL Acetabular System and ASR Hip Resurfacing System have been reported to the U.S Food and Drugs Administration by hundreds of victims claiming they weren’t working as they were supposed to. On average, a hip prosthesis should last about fifteen years. The hip prostheses of the company were known to last for only five years. A growing concern among recipients of the DePuy products is that 12 percent of them would require a revision surgery to correct and repair any damage done by the hip replacements. Revision surgical procedures have a lower success rates than initial operations; they are usually even more difficult to accomplish.

Going through another round of hip replacement operation makes patients troubled and sometimes fearful. It drives them to question, “What happens if the second surgery is unsuccessful?” Possible reasons scenarios will be mentioned that gives victims reason to be uneasy.

If the second hip surgery fails, a third operation may be required. Because of tissue, bone and muscle damage an invasive surgery entails, rehabilitation and recovery takes much longer than it would for the initial hip replacement. Hip surgery costs reach an estimated $40,000 and revision operations success rates are low.

When a hip device fails, recipients experience a considerable amount of pain. Considering that you wanted the pain associated with hip problems to be alleviated by the implant, having to live with more pain should concern you.

Mobility is affected as the hip implant becomes loose. Patients are unable to move efficiently as discomfort and pain arise.

Your hip implant could dislocate and cause leg length discrepancies. Oftentimes, hip revisions make for unequal leg lengths. Muscle and bone weakening is a direct result of following hip replacement operations. Difficulty walking is experienced as the patient’s gait is affected.

Subsequent hip replacement surgeries should have been avoidable if hip implants for the first operation would last as expected. Not everyone looks forward to being in the hospital setting once again, spend thousands, and go through another bout of rehabilitation and therapy. The pain and suffering associated with being implanted with a flawed device could take its toll on patients.

Any out-of-pocket expenses made by hip recall patients are promised by DePuy to be reimbursed given that they are indeed associated with injuries relating to the recall. Full compensation for financial losses is still not guaranteed since you are subject for an eligibility review. Damages that does not involve money such as physical, mental and emotional pain were not even addressed by the company. Seeing that you understand the DePuy hip replacement lawsuit and deciding to seek legal counsel would up your chances of acquiring the right amount of compensation you deserve.
